I posted about starting an online business last week and a lot of the things that I stated would be good things to do were either ones that I had already done or was about to do. I took the time to study about website development and what it could lead to in terms of money and career. I have found that there are web developers who work at Google who do not have a degree in computer science. They just used their experience with it to make some big-time careers out of this skill.
I have been mastering HTML which is pretty basic and is the foundation to learning languages used in web development such as PHP and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). I encourage you to go and check out the HowStuffWorks website to find out how HTML5 works and how web pages work. This is where I did a lot of my studying. Along with this book that I am still reading by Mathew MacDonald.

With HTML, you really have to master the tags and the advanced tags and these will become second nature once you start practicing and working on your projects. You could gain a lot of practice working on freelancer, Elance or oDesk and get paid as well an average hourly rate of $11.77. Tables, links and images are also some of the features of HTML that you should study hard.
This was my attempt at encouraging you to learn a skill that could make you some money and also something you could be proud of. I’ve always felt that learning anything in the computer science and programming field is very beneficial. It can complement the skills and education that you already have and make you some extra money as well.
